Fray Day 8 Milwaukee: Fray Day's Coming to Brew City
Posted by Krutzik on Tuesday 26 October 04 @ 2:39PM

We're kicking off Milwaukee's first ever Fray Day on Wednesday, December 1 at the Art Bar in Riverwest (722 E Burleigh St). We'll get things started at 7:30 with an hour of live music. Featured performers take the stage at 8:30, followed by the open mic. Anyone who wants to volunteer or read, please get in touch. See you at the Art Bar!

Fray Day 8 DC: Featured Storyteller: Julia Montgomery
Posted by Tiffany on Sunday 24 October 04 @ 8:00PM

Julia Montgomery takes the Fray Day stage again this year, this time as a featured storyteller!

Also known as Tequila Mockingbird, you may remember Julia from last year's hilarious recounting of "The Mojo is Strong in This One." In addition to achieving Internet stardom with her own blog, she posts at Metroblogging DC. She assures you all that this year's Fray Day DC venue, Love Cafe, really does have the Best. Cake. Ever.

Fray Day 8 DC: Featured Storyteller: Bill Coughlan
Posted by Tiffany on Sunday 24 October 04 @ 7:15PM

Returning to the Fray Day DC mic this year is Bill Coughlan:

William R. Coughlan is the Manager of Video Production for The Advisory Board Company in Washington, D.C., and one of the founding members of Tohubohu Productions; with the latter, he recently directed a short film for the National Film Challenge entitled "Screening Process." In addition, he dabbles in screenwriting, acting, three-dimensional animation, and writing autobiographical comments in the third person. He is also the illustrator of the therapeutic workbook Stories for Children with Problems & Wishes, has provided schematic graphics for several HBS case studies, and serves as the Critic at Large for the occasionally published online literary magazine Inkblots. He currently resides in Burke, Virginia, with his wife Pam and their two daughters, and can usually be found ranting on the Web at his film- and politically-oriented weblog, Prometheus Unleashed.

Fray Day 8 Fredericksburg: Featured Performer: Libby Wiebel
Posted by Fowlkes on Sunday 24 October 04 @ 4:46PM   0 Comments

Our next featured performer is Libby Wiebel! While a mild mannered computer programmer by day, at night Libby dons many superhero hats, among them that of "a contemporary, folk singer-songwriter" of "melodies that are infused with piano and guitar accompaniment". On her website, Libby speaks of performing in terms of storytelling, and so seems particularly suited to Fray Day!

Several samples of Libby's music can be found here.

Those wishing to purchase her album, "The Wait-a-While Estates", may do so here or from iTunes.

Fray Day 8 Copenhagen: Præsentation
Posted by Rasmus on Thursday 21 October 04 @ 2:29AM

This post is in Danish ...

Posted by Daniel on Tuesday 19 October 04 @ 10:02AM

The Happy Bullets are confirmed as Fray Day 8 Dallas' musical guest! I dare say they are the perfect band for such an event, and I must say they looked and sounded great at our gallery opening a couple months ago.

Fray Day 8 Central Florida: New date, new location.
Posted by Andy on Tuesday 12 October 04 @ 9:21AM

After being hit by yet another hurricane (Jeanne!), we've finally been able to settle on a new day for Fray Day Central Florida: Tuesday, November 16, from 7 to 10 p.m.

Because our venue from last year, Stover Theatre, was flooded during Frances and is sadly full of water and mold and thus out of commission, we're moving the event across campus into the Stetson Room on the second floor of the Carlton Union Building. There's plenty of free parking nearby at the corner of E. Pennsylvania Avenue and Bert Fish Drive next to Rinker Field. (Here's a 2-D campus map; the CUB is #57, the parking lot #73. This 3-D map shows what the buildings look like.)

Thanks for bearing with us during all of this tropical weather. At least these hurricanes and tropical storms -- six since August -- have left Floridians with some fascinating stories to tell. We hope you'll join us to tell your best true stories, whether they're about hurricanes or anything else.
