Wrap-up.
Posted by Andy on Thursday 18 November 04 @ 1:28PM

All went well in here in DeLand, where we had a solid crowd for more than two hours worth of stories. Thanks to the 20+ people who got up to share their own stories, and to everyone who attended.

We're in the news.
Posted by Andy on Monday 15 November 04 @ 11:24AM

With DeLand gearing up for Fray Day Central Florida tomorrow evening, the Daytona Beach newspaper wrote about us (fourth item). We'll look forward to seeing all of our Daytona Beach -- and Central Florida -- neighbors tomorrow night.

New date, new location.
Posted by Andy on Tuesday 12 October 04 @ 9:21AM

After being hit by yet another hurricane (Jeanne!), we've finally been able to settle on a new day for Fray Day Central Florida: Tuesday, November 16, from 7 to 10 p.m.

Because our venue from last year, Stover Theatre, was flooded during Frances and is sadly full of water and mold and thus out of commission, we're moving the event across campus into the Stetson Room on the second floor of the Carlton Union Building. There's plenty of free parking nearby at the corner of E. Pennsylvania Avenue and Bert Fish Drive next to Rinker Field. (Here's a 2-D campus map; the CUB is #57, the parking lot #73. This 3-D map shows what the buildings look like.)

Thanks for bearing with us during all of this tropical weather. At least these hurricanes and tropical storms -- six since August -- have left Floridians with some fascinating stories to tell. We hope you'll join us to tell your best true stories, whether they're about hurricanes or anything else.

Rescheduling Due to Hurricane Frances.
Posted by Andy on Tuesday 21 September 04 @ 2:25PM

Hurricane Frances left a lot of destruction in her wake here in Volusia County, and severe damage to the area's infrastructure left most of us without power and every life-sustaining thing that goes along with that (a/c, refrigeration, Internet access, et cetera) for more than a week. Stetson University, our host, just reopened last week after a two-week break because of Frances' effects.

Thus, we have to push back Fray Day Central Florida a few weeks. An updated date, and possibly location, will be posted as soon as possible. Thanks for your understanding.

Back to the Sunshine State.
Posted by Andy on Friday 27 August 04 @ 2:41PM

Fray Day will return to Central Florida this fall, where something named Charley has left a lot of people with stories to tell.

We'll gather on Wednesday, Oct. 6, at 7 p.m., on the campus of Stetson University in Stover Theatre -- just like last year. Stetson is in DeLand, halfway between Orlando and Daytona Beach off of I-4, and not far away at all from Gainesville, Tampa, St. Augustine, Jacksonville, and other places.
