Fray Day 8 Copenhagen: The recap The following is a short recap of the Copenhagen event. The post is in Danish. Continue reading "The recap" »
Fray Day 8 Milwaukee: Success! No one knew quite what to expect for the first Fray Day to ever hit Milwaukee, but we ended up with a great turnout and some amazing stories. Around 75 people packed into the Art Bar to hear tales about Scrabble glory, childhood as a Midwestern mafia princess, a nonchalant carjacking victim, crazy roommates, love gone wrong, and the importance of "le procedure" when traveling in France.
Fray Day 8 Tucson: Great Show! FD 8 in Tucson was great this year. We had some excellent stories this year from some new faces as well as some old ones as well. This year featured stories from Kaitlin, Phoenix Wheeler, Lisa Levine, Veronica Philips, and Jef Hamby. As usual we had some excellent walk-ons featuriing a story about "Massag Parlor", the NY Zoo, learning to trust, and Army training movies. A Big Thank You to all of the organizers this year including Veronica who stepped up as the MC and helped us out immensely. Also thanks to DJ Moabyte who provided some excellent background tunes during our intermissions. Stay tuned for photos and audio. Additionally we are planning one or two Fray Cafes in Tucson in the coming year so if you couldn't tell a story this year you will have the opportunity again (without having to wait a year), drop a line to warner@tucsonunderground.com if you are interested in helping out in any way with a Cafe or FD 9! Thanks again to all the performers and most of all, everyone who came out to hear great stories. -warner
Fray Day 8 San Francisco: Fray Day 8 Audio Online The Fray Audio Archive has been updated to include the audio from Fray Day 8 San Francisco! Tune in for three hours of fun, including musical performances by songwriter Goh Nakamura and beatboxer Kid Beyond and true stories told live by Jack Boulware, Beth Lisick, Derek Powazek, Kirk Read, Kevin Smokler, and lots of other great folks in the open mic. SUPER HUGE THANKS to the killer audio guy at the Swedish American Hall, Chip Clofine who recorded the show for us, and the Internet Archive for hosting the audio for us! Also, as a special treat, our musical performers have each made one of their performances available in mp3! Goh Nakamura has agreed to let us distribute his final song of the evening! The song is called "Daylight Savings" and he was joined onstage by Sadie Contini from The Invisible Cities. Enjoy! Download: Daylight Savings 3.3mb mp3 (right-click to download). And Kid Beyond has agreed to let us distribute his mind-blowing, beatboxing, live looping rendition of one of my favorite songs. Listen to it with headphones! Download: Wandering ... 5.1mb mp3 (right-click to download).
