Fray Day 8 Milwaukee: Success! No one knew quite what to expect for the first Fray Day to ever hit Milwaukee, but we ended up with a great turnout and some amazing stories. Around 75 people packed into the Art Bar to hear tales about Scrabble glory, childhood as a Midwestern mafia princess, a nonchalant carjacking victim, crazy roommates, love gone wrong, and the importance of "le procedure" when traveling in France. There were a few kinks that need to be worked out for next time (some stories went too long, audience was noisy at times), but everyone seemed to like the concept of Fray Day, and we managed to get 14 people up during the open mic. I'd like to thank everyone that helped make this a great event: Don at the Art Bar, Paul Finger (the host), Beautiful Pollution, our featured performers (Renato Umali, Kimberley Motley, Adekola Adedapo, Jon Anne Willow, and Bjorn Nasett), all the open mic participants, and Dan Budiac, the photo wiz for the night. I'll be posting the pictures very soon. It was a wonderful night and I'll definitely be doing this again in Milwaukee next year! |
