Things Given - What have you been given?

hanna gave me all that she could.

when she was around, it would put a smile on my face like you wouldn't believe. but when she was gone, i was left with more pain than i could swallow.

i'm sure it wasn't her fault. i just wanted more than she could give.

Holly gave me that which she said she was saving for her future husband.

Turns out she was one guy early.

Judy gave me the chance to choose caring about another person more than about being right all the time. When I didn't take it after about 6 months she gave me the chance to realize that the world does not revolve around me, and I can get hurt. Debbie gave me the chance to realize a oneness between us that extended to knowing between us when it was time to walk away on entirely good terms as we had reached the end. Rita gave me the chance to get addicted to someone, and give myself to her completely as a lifestyle, only to find that I had nothing left after a while, and to survive I had to be set free. I realized as this came up that she was sensitive to it and trying to manipulate me. And so from her I learned to accept feeling mis-understood and hated, and most of all, that when you stand up to someone and tell the whole truth (in spite of your fear), you get a massive injection of freedom and self-worth. And from this relationship with myself I have found that I don't need a significant other to live a beautiful life.

Sun gave me passion and hope.

Those two still power my life in a way, I never imagined.

Locke gave me trust. He gave me the ability to believe that you can survive fights, that you can survive tears, that you can survive any crap that comes betweeen two people in a relationship. You just have to decide at the beginning, or realize somewhere as you go along, is he worth working for?

I am in love with someone who is definatly not my perfect match. But this Thanksgiving I'm thankful for the endless support he's giving me and for the times we've shared. In working through things with him we've grown together and closer to each other. I'm thankful this thanksgiving because I believe that there is something more than love at first sight - and that's love you've worked for.

Teemu - oh he gave me so many things. Five years is a long time.

From friendship to love, he gave me confidence to grow up to be the woman I am now. He was the first person to give me such continuous support.

He gave me headache and many sleepless nights of thoughts in my head "what the hell am I doing with this guy?" He broke my heart, but helped me to put it back together again - he's still my best friend, the man of my dreams, 'the guy I'll marry if I'm still single at 32'

I still love him so much.

joe gave me what i wanted until i was tired of it.

michael didn't give me what i wanted. until i was tired of it.

as for my present relationship, it's good, he's good, i'm happy, but i couldn't explain why in so many words, it's as much to do with me as him, i suppose...i feel present, in the moment, with him...he sees me as i am, we have fun.
