Death of a man, birth of a patriot "I only regret that I have but one life to lose for my country." In New York City, 277 years ago today, somewhere around what is now 3rd Ave. and 66th street, a 21-year old patriot and spy named Nathan Hale uttered these last words before being hanged by the British. In honor of America's first known spy to die in the line of duty, we might want to reflect upon Hale's intriguing tale. |
