I was in awe. All these people. All these colors. It was better than I'd imagined it. I decided then and there that some day I would live here. Little did I know how soon that would be. When we got back to the car my dad discovered a ticket on his windshield. We'd been in such a panic to escape the walking pharmacy, he'd forgotten to put money in the meter. Mumbling profanities, my dad led me across Market St. to a burrito joint he knew. There I experienced my first super veggie burrito. I was astounded. I couldn't finish half of it. That burrito shop is a few blocks from my current home. We grabbed the leftovers and jumped on the bridge to Berkeley, my face plastered to the window, trying to take in every last bit. |
