When have you been reckless?
For me, recklessness is often not a matter of choice, but a matter of necessity. If I don't act, not only nothing happens, but really nasty things happen. And so, to counter, I have to act--and more often than not--in bold, reckless manner. So that I not only stop the bad things from happening, but also to counter it. We've learned to think of the word "recklessness" with a negative way. That is sad. Very sad. For without a sense of recklessness, nothing happens. We have to have recklessness, and we have to be reckless so we can assert ourselves in a world that dares to wash out our existence. Recklessness is a manner of assertion, a proof of life. My reckless experience? All of my life, I've been reckless. DeeJay {style@tridel.com.ph} By others defination, I guess abandoning a well-paying, secure job, beautiful house...a life, for a rundown hill-top farm in rural nowhere to try my hand at living off the land with no experience, would constitute reckless. Funny...I never saw it that way. I'm not quite sure what an accurate antonym for reckless would be, but whatever it is I'm the definition of it. Pensive, cautious, measured, unsure, meditative... decidedly unreckless.
I must have absolute faith in any prospect before I allow myself to travel a given path. No taking unnecessary chances for this hombre. As a result of this I have suffered little hardship, however there is little excitement in my life either.
I have many friends that are risk takers and I occasionally envy their ability to disregard what, in my mind, are grave and overwhelming consequences. They just shrug and move on. Maybe someday I will have that kind of attitude. Maybe someday... probably never. DinoNeil {nheidorn@alpha.comsource.net} sometimes you find yourself in someone's bed. your hand has just finished stroking their hair. you know they'll never say anything to you. at least not anything you'd ever really want to hear. so you go outside and just sit in your underwear, in the middle of the road. but it's 3.a.m. and no one is driving here. you just watch the glowbugs walking along the pavement. and crush them with your naked foot.
