How many names do you have?

Most people have two, maybe three.

The one your mother calls you.
The one your teachers called you.
The one your close friends call you.

Those names generally depend
on the person speaking to you.

Not so for me.

My names are dependent on time.

I have distinct eras,

exact dates,

precise moments

when we moved

and my name

and my identity

were stripped of me

and new ones were thrust upon me

without resistance

because that was all

I knew how to be.
