{ A bill was debated on the House floor }

A bill was debated on the House floor in the winter of '91. A North Dakotan Senator, in a mediocre attempt to drum up tourist dollars, wanted to change North Dakota's name to simply "Dakota." He said the superfluous "North" brought up mental images of frost-covered plains and barren, wind-swept countryside.

"Who would want to pay to see that?"

Who indeed.
