Peter has finished his thought. He looks at me suddenly, with the characteristic shake of his head, as though to clear the jumbled thoughts from his mind. "I think," he says, "that free competition will solve all these problems naturally."

I agree, but I've forgotten what we were talking about, and his comment startles me from a reverie I had not even noticed myself falling into.
